- In September and October, Senior Courses in English and Math include preparation
for the Regents Scholarship SAT and ACT.
- Juniors receive special preparation for the new combined PSAT/National Merit
Scholarship exam in October, for the SAT in May and for the ACT in June.
- All English and Math courses emphasize the reading comprehension skills, writing
skills, grammar, vocabulary and basic skills required for success in these examinations,
as well as for secondary school and the college.
- The elective course offerings have been expanded to provide courses that not only
are relevant, but also are preparatory courses to help insure success in college. Among
the courses being offered are:
- Computer Programming (required by more and more colleges)
- Psychology
- Sociology
- Government and Economics
- Business Administration and Law
- Keyboarding and Computers
- Fashion Design & Construction
- Portfolio Art
- Advanced Placement Calculus, Chemistry, History, French and Spanish
- The National Honor Society Induction will be held in November.
- The art, journalism and music programs have been expanded. The productions that
have been presented by Windsor students include:
- "Guys and Dolls"
- "Dames at Sea"
- "The Man Who Came to Dinner"
- "Plaza Suite"
- "Room Service"
- "The Butler Did It"
- "A Medal for Willie"
- Talent Shows and Fashion Shows
- The Special Events Calendar includes trips such as:
- Museum of Natural History and Hayden Planetarium
- Metropolitan Museum of Art
- Museum of Modern Art
- Immigrant Museum (Ellis Island)
- Brookhaven Laboratory
- Lincoln Center
- United Nations
- New York Stock Exchange
- Gateway National Park
- French Cinema & Restaurant
- Spanish Cinema & Restaurant
- Intrepid Museum
- "New York Experience"
- A Day in a Courtroom
- Rockefeller Center
- Federal Reserve Bank
- South Street Seaport Museum
- Hall of Science, Flushing Meadow Park
- A number of our students have been accepted to summer programs at Brown,
Cornell, Harvard, Syracuse University, Tufts, Potsdam, Queens College, Clarkson
College, The Hayden Planetarium, etc.
- All-Star members, male and female, of the Windsor School Soccer, Basketball
and Softball Teams receive trophies. All varsity members, including the All-Stars,
receive school major athletic letters. In addition, all students are again invited
to tennis.
- The Windsor School has special classes and a tutorial program in English for
Foreign Born (ESL).
